David Bresch, professor for Weather and Climate Risks at the ETH Zürich, gave a talk on the Economics of Climate Adaptation (ECA) methodology, which enables decision makers to understand and quantify the impact of climate change and to identify actions to minimize that impact at lowest cost.

The speech of Barry Hankin, Chief of Environmental Modelling at JBA Consulting, is focused on a project in Scotland demonstrating how robust environmental modelling can be used to inform nature-based solutions for flood management, from the efficacy of different options through to the cost/benefit analysis.

Juraj Jurík and Amanda Radstake (Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation) introduce the “Nature for Catchments Launchramp”, a tool deployed in Greece and Cyprus in collaboration with the European Investment Bank. It is a project origination method for NbS projects in the context of river catchments which includes stakeholder engagement, convening politicians and decision-makers and preparation of suitable finance.
