From February 11th to 13th 2025, the NATURANCE Webstival brought together a diverse group of experts, stakeholders, and practitioners to explore the latest innovations in nature-based insurance and investment instruments for ecosystem restoration. With a focus on innovative investment tools for climate adaptation and resilience, this 3-day virtual event saw the participation of 297 unique attendees. Day 1 was watched by 184 participants, day 2 was watched by 163 participants, and day 3 was watched by 88 participants (435 in total).
The webstival kicked off with an opening session that framed the urgent need for increased nature-related finance from the UNEP Finance Initiative, followed by a dynamic panel discussion on Innovation and justice in closing the climate-nature funding gap. The second day, with a full-day agenda, touched based on different points, delving into the emerging field of assessing the benefits of nature-based solutions (NbS) for flood risk reduction, a comprehensive overview of the NATURANCE Innovation Labs, and a world cafe format analyzing diverse case studies and strategies for advancing a nature-positive economy. On the third day, the Webstival closed with a knowledge marketplace session that allowed participants to attend different breakout discussions about specific case studies.
Overall, the NATURANCE Webstival highlighted once more the importance of cross-sector collaboration and the need for innovative financial mechanisms to build a more resilient and nature-positive future.
